The Sonodur 3 from Institut Dr. Foerster GmbH & Co. KG (Germany), provides a unique solution for hardness testing using both UCI (Ultrasonic Contact Impedance) & Leeb methods.

The portable & rugged Sonodur 3 provides a reliable hardness testing solution for industries such as automotive, aerospace, heavy engineering, energy & power sector, tools, molds, steel, casting, material treatment, medical, naval etc.

UCI Test Method

• The Sonodur 3 conforms to DIN 50159-1,2-2021, ASTM A1038- 2019
• Measure in various scales such as Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell, Knoop, Shore, MPa
• Conversion between various scales using ASTM E140-12b & EN ISO 18265:2019
• Largest variety of UCI probes in the market:
  • Sono H – standard probes, from 10N to 100N with performance attachments such as long rods, thin tips & short body
  • Sono S – guided probes from 10N to 100N. Special attachments available for flats, tubes, bars, wires
  • Sono M – motorized probes from 1N to 8.6N with adjustable load times and accessories. 

• Standard and custom stands/attachments available for probes for high precision readings 
• High quality reference blocks in various scales test method

Leeb Test Method

• The Sonodur 3 confirms to ISO 16859-1,-2,-3 2020, DIN 50156, ASTM A 965 2017
• Conversion between various scales using EN ISO 18265- 2019, ASTM-E 140-2019, EPRI  correlation-P91-2020 (HV5/HV10 with HB)
• Calculation of the Vickers hardness HV from the L-value (LD & LG acc. to ISO 16859)
• Bluetooth enabled probes: 
  • HLG (2500N) 
  • HLD, HLD/C (900N)

• Attachments available to adapt to different surface profiles
• High quality reference blocks in various scales
